Directors statement
Scum of the Earth is an exploration of how individuals who identify with the hardcore punk & metal scenes would react when faced with "true evil," and a cautionary tale about the dangers dark ideas can have on impressionable minds. We lean into the hypocrisy and absurdity of the characters and people like them, and point out the toxic traits present in those spaces. In the end, we deliver a satisfying conclusion for the characters you will love to hate.

In 2024, The 9th Production Company launched a GoFundMe campaign to support our latest short film—a bold, genre-driven project with a deeply personal core. The campaign quickly surpassed its funding goal, drawing support from a growing community of film lovers, artists, and advocates. Beyond funding, the campaign built momentum, visibility, and a loyal audience that continues to engage with our work.

Help Us Unleash the Horror: Fund Our Dark Adventure Short Film!
Join us on an eerie journey as we bring our spine-chilling tale to life in our short film! Our story revolves around four fleeting friends and bandmates who form the group Scum of the Earth. After a disastrous show, the four of them find themselves stranded without a way home. Seeking fame and glory in all the wrong places, they unexpectedly stumble upon something far more sinister than they ever could have imagined.
What sets our film apart is the exploration of how individuals who identify with the "metal" or "hardcore" scenes react when faced with true evil. It serves as a cautionary tale, subtly warning of the potential dangers of extreme music and its impact on impressionable minds. However, we're not just about delivering a social message; our main focus is on providing entertainment and fun, keeping the audience engaged throughout.
We are proud to announce that we've secured the rights to feature the powerful music of The Queers, Full of Hell, and captivating original compositions, which will add depth and intensity to the film's gripping atmosphere.
Drawing inspiration from iconic horror stories like Evil Dead we aim to recreate the nostalgic "feel" of 80s/90s horror movies, immersing the audience in a thrilling experience.
With your generous support, we plan to submit our completed short film to a variety of film festivals, opening doors for wider recognition and appreciation. Additionally, we aspire to explore opportunities to sell the film to streaming services, reaching a global audience.
Moreover, our vision doesn't end with the short film. If the stars align, we have ambitious plans to expand the story into a full-length feature, offering an extended narrative that delves deeper into the unsettling events surrounding our characters.
Your contribution will make a significant impact, enabling us to cover essential production costs, secure professional equipment, talented actors, skilled crew members, and top-notch post-production services. Together, let's bring this thrilling horror adventure to life!
Join us in unleashing the darkness and securing your exclusive rewards by supporting our fundraising campaign. Your contribution will not only be a part of creating a captivating horror film but also a testament to supporting indie filmmakers in their pursuit of artistic vision. Thank you for being a crucial part of our haunting journey!
